Olosira Conservancy Scouts
Olosira Conservancy is a 25,000-acre community conservation area located within the Athi Kapiti Plains. Olosira plays a crucial role as a connectivity corridor linking Nairobi National Park, Athi-Kapiti Conservancies, and Amboseli National Park.
Save Giraffes Now first partnered with Olosira in 2024 when we drilled a new borehole in the conservation area. We also installed a solar pump and water storage system which allows water to be stored in two tanks. Any overflow makes its way into a nearby water hole, creating a permanent water source for giraffe, wildlife, livestock, and people.
In 2025, Save Giraffes Now began funding the Olosira scout team, who had been volunteering as much as they could to protect this landscape. This full-time support now allows the scouts to monitor the conservancy and systematically protect the giraffe and all wildlife that call Olosira home in a much more comprehensive way.
Save Giraffes Now is equipping the scout team with a motorbike, which will allow them to patrol larger areas of the conservancy. We have also budgeted for annual maintenance of the borehole, as we have discovered lack of maintenance is common and leads to early breakdown of the borehole.
Please help us keep wild spaces protected so giraffe and all wildlife can move around freely and safely in their native Africa.
