In 2021 Save Giraffes Now partnered with the Wild is Life Sanctuary in Zimbabwe to build a giraffe paddock. That giraffe paddock quickly became an essential part of their giraffe conservation and rehabilitation efforts.

On the 25th of December, 2025 William the Giraffe arrived as a late night Christmas present. After a traumatic birth, his mother Skye sadly rejected him any time he would attempt to feed. Before he lost too much weight, the dedicated handlers at Wild is Life stepped in to hand-rear William.
Shortly after, Wild is Life reached out to SGN about building a night stable for William. The night stable for William and any future orphaned calves allows them to thrive in a safe and secure stable that is large enough for them before they rejoin their herd.

Although if William has anything to say about it, it may not be the giraffe herd he ends up rejoining! Here William is with his friend Kadiki, the elephant. Beginning in March, Kadiki regularly greets William when she returns from her walk about the bush. See Kadiki and William still fast friends in July 2026 on Wild is Life Zimbabwe’s Facebook.
This growing boy is being hand raised by the team. He drinks approximately 24 liters of milk formula per day!
