Improving Snare Wound Protocols
In 2023, Save Giraffes Now learned that giraffe in Uganda were facing significant snare injuries which were not responding to traditional wound treatments. These deep wounds – often on their legs – caused complications for the giraffes’ mobility and led to infection and even death.
Save Giraffes Now sprang into quick action and supplied the veterinary team with new topical creams and treatment protocols for these serious lacerations. Within weeks the veterinarians noted huge improvement in the healing of these types of wounds with the new treatment.
From October 2024 to March 2025, 59 giraffe (in just one park in Uganda!) were rescued and treated with this new protocol.
Please help us fund the necessary treatments to heal these deep snare wounds in Uganda.
