I am thrilled to have the opportunity to update you all on a few new developments in Kenya from Save Giraffes Now.
Mombasa Road Wildlife Crossing
We are thrilled to announce the completion of special road signs that will be placed alongside Mombasa Road to reduce roadside accidents with wildlife. This marks a huge breakthrough for a project that has been in the works for some time due to multiple parties and government agencies involved in the research and development to make these signs successful. We are so thankful they are finally ready and will have them installed in the coming weeks.
New Mobile Anti-Poaching Unit in Northeastern Kenya
In a very dry area of Northeastern Kenya there is a small population of both endangered reticulated and Maasai giraffe. Located outside of formally protected areas, these giraffes have become a target, and poaching and bushmeat trade are on the rise across this region. To combat the increase in poaching, SGN helped reinstate the Northern Rangelands Trust 9-3 mobile anti-poaching unit this September.
In September alone the team intervened in six poaching incidents with three incidents being taken to court. We have since received word that the team has responded to numerous poaching reports in addition to rescuing giraffe and other wildlife from muddy dams.
Save Giraffes Now has already committed funding for the unit for 2023, so they can work consistently to stop the aggressive poaching in this area.

Donate Today & Make Twice the Impact
Save Giraffes Now has received an incredible offer from one of our supporters. They will match all donations received through December 31st up to a total of $125,000. Donate today to help us continue our work and make an even greater impact for giraffe conservation.
Giraffe Bottle has designed a limited edition bottle for Save Giraffes Now! A portion of every bottle’s sale goes directly to projects focusing on protecting key giraffe populations, and rewilding them to native habitats.
Save Giraffes Now has made great progress in our giraffe conservation efforts; however, there is much work left to do, and we need your help. Please join us in our fight to ensure giraffe can live freely and safely in their native Africa for generations to come.
